Okonomiyaki Recipe from Japan

Ingredients

  1. All-purpose flour 1 cup - dry
  2. Water 3/4 cup - liquid
  3. Cabbage 2 cups - vegetable
  4. Green onions 1/4 cup - vegetable
  5. Egg 1 - protein
  6. Pork belly slices 100 grams - meat (Optional)
  7. Okonomiyaki sauce to taste - condiment
  8. Mayonnaise to taste - condiment
  9. Bonito flakes to taste - garnish (Optional)
  10. Seaweed flakes to taste - garnish (Optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour and water to create a smooth batter.

  2. Add the chopped cabbage, green onions, and egg to the batter and mix well.

  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and pour in some oil.

  4. Pour the batter into the skillet and shape it into a round pancake.

  5. If using, place pork belly slices on top of the pancake.

  6. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes.

  7. Once cooked, drizzle Okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise on top.

  8. Sprinkle with bonito flakes and seaweed flakes before serving.
